Update: 1:15 p.m.

The SSRCE confirmed that the hold and secure was lifted shortly before 1:00 p.m., and confirmed that all students and staff were safe.

Bridgewater Police (BPS) told our newsroom that the hold and secure was initiated after a student alerted the school to threats they had received from someone off campus.

When BPS arrived at the school they secured the area and investigated, which ultimately led to an arrest being made outside of town by the RCMP.

As the investigation is still ongoing details related to the arrest and any associated charges have not been released publicly at this time.

Park View Education Centre in Bridgewater was put on a hold and secure Friday afternoon.

The South Shore Regional Centre for Education (SSRCE) sent out a notice shortly after noon that it was initiated in response to a threat received by the school. They also indicated that all students and staff are safe.

A hold and secure is a response to a threat or incident in the general vicinity of a school. School life continues as normal inside the school; however, as a precautionary measure, outer doors are locked and no one enters or leaves the building.

Parents of students were sent messages letting them know about the situation and the SSRCE said they would provide updates when more information is known.
