The generosity of Thunder Bay residents is being recognized outside of the city.
GoFundMe has ranked the city as the eighth most generous in Canada.
In 2024, the platform recorded $280 million in funds raised in Canada for people, causes, and organizations around the world.
An increase of eight per cent from the previous year.

Victoria was the most generous community for the second year in a row with over 19,500 donors contributing.
According to the organization, one in 13 Canadian adults donated to the platform in 2024.
“From small acts of kindness to major community efforts, Canadians are consistently committed to lending a helping hand,” said GoFundMe’s Chief Executive Officer, Tim Cadogan. “People across Canada have exhibited unprecedented kindness and compassion, exemplified by the generosity shown—from supporting a young girl in North Vancouver hoping to train her service dog or donating dollars to keep the beloved Toronto Santa Claus Parade alive, an unbreakable spirit of solidarity defines Canadians.”
GoFundMe is a crowdsourcing/crowdfunding organization that provides a platform for people to raise funds for various reasons.
