You’re invited to kick of 2025 at a couple of New Year’s levées in Halifax on January 1st.
Lieutenant Governor Mike Savage will host the New Year’s Day Levée at Government House – the oldest vice-regal residence in North America.
In a release, Lt.-Gov Savage says, “The levée is a time-honoured tradition that brings Nova Scotians together to celebrate community, friendship and new beginnings. Darlene and I are delighted to invite residents and visitors to the province to join us for this special occasion.”
The annual social event will be on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It’s free and you don’t need an invitation.
About 700 guests attend the lieutenant-governor’s levée each year.
Located at 1451 Barrington Street, Government House is a national historic site constructed between 1799 and 1805.
Mayor Andy Fillmore and members of Regional Council also invite residents to join them for a levée on New Year’s Day. It will take place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Halifax City Hall at 1841 Argyle Street.
