A pre-Christmas snow storm will slow things down if you’re doing any last minute shopping or travelling to see family.

It is causing ongoing delays at the Halifax airport as windy conditions are hampering visibility.

Many fights into and out of Halifax are delayed because of the snow and icy conditions. Officials are asking travellers to check your flight status before heading to the airport.

Meantime, slick road conditions are being reported across our province as temps drop.

Some parts of the Valley and Cape Breton and the Valley will see up to 30 centimetres or more. Winter storm advisories were in place in Inverness and Victoria Counties.

Northumberland Ferries has cancelled all of its departures for Saturday and will monitor conditions Sunday before providing updates.

The storm arrives during the busiest time of the year for travel as many head home to see family and friends.
