Theodore Too tugboat partially sinks in Ontario

By Jacob Moore Dec 18, 2024 | 8:18 AM

An iconic Halifax tugboat is in distress in Ontario.

Theodore Too took on water where the boat was docked in Port Weller.

Owner Blair McKeil says no one was injured but the vessel partially sank to rest on the bottom.

The beloved 65-foot tug is a replica of the character from the famous CBC TV series Theodore Tugboat. It also has been listed on AirBnB over the last number of years as a place you could spend the night.

Availability to book it always sold out with minutes.

Theadore was in Halifax for 21 years before McKeil bought it. The iconic vessel was built at Snyder’s Shipyard in Dayspring, N.S., and launched in April 2000.

Officials are working on a plan to refloat the vessel and will assess the tugboat.
