A major drug ring stretching from Toronto to Moncton has been dismantled, according to the Codiac RCMP.
The investigation led to the seizure of 13 kilograms of cocaine, seven firearms, and over $200,000 in cash.
Supt. Benoit Jolette mentioned the 0peration began in May and was a joint effort with the Toronto Police Service.
“During the investigation, we learned that the Toronto crime group had set up a distribution hub in the Greater Moncton area,” Jolette said in an update to Moncton council this week.
Police arrested a man and a woman from Dieppe along with two men from Toronto on December 11.
Several high-end vehicles were also confiscated.
Jolette detailed the thorough search process they used to inspect the vehicles.
“The vehicles seized passed through an x-ray device that the explosive disposal unit has to check for concealed hidden compartments,” he said.
The superintendent believes the police were able to remove a significant distribution hub into the Greater Moncton area.
