Man charged with manslaughter in Cape Breton homicide major crimes case

A 38-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the disappearance of a Cape Breton man, being investigated by the province’s major crimes unit.

Police say the suspect was arrested in Sydney, December 12, and is also facing robbery and assault charges.

Kenneth “Justin” Macdonald, 34, was last seen on July 7 in North Sydney around 11 p.m., on security footage at the Irving Gas Station on 183 Commercial Street.

He is described as 5’9”,240 pounds, with sandy blond hair and blue eyes.

Macdonald’s vehicle, a blue Kia Forte, was later found in the Ormond Crescent area of Mira Road.

Police have been actively investigating his disappearance and have followed up on several leads with several searches with K9 units, drones and ground search and rescue.

More arrests and charges are pending.
