A Thunder Bay resident is facing multiple child sexual abuse charges following an investigation by city police’s Cyber Crime Unit.
The investigation began earlier this year after police received a tip about someone in the area uploading child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
A home in the community was searched earlier this year and several electronics were seized.
Further investigation determined the suspect had been talking to and exchanging sexually explicit material with a minor in the United States.
The suspect turned themselves in to police on Tuesday morning.
As a result, a 32-year-old from Thunder Bay is facing the following charges:
- Luring x2
- Making explicit material available to a child
- Indecent exposure
- Making child pornography x3
- Possession of child pornography
- Accessing child pornography
The accused has been released from custody with conditions and a future court date.
