The goaltender for the QMJHL’s Cape Breton Eagles will represent his native country at the 2025 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships.

Jakub Milota has been named to Team Czechia.

According to a release, the 18-year-old goalie will be representing his homeland for the first time after entering his second Q season with Cape Breton this year.

Last April, he played for Czechia at the U18 World Hockey Championships in Finland, where his team was eliminated in the tournament quarter finals by Slovakia.

So far this season, Milota has a .908 save percentage and a 3.01 goals-against average in 24 starts with the Eagles.

Cohen Lesperance-Spack from the CCHL’s Cornwall Colts will take over the nets until Milota’s return January 7th.

The World Juniors will be in Ottawa beginning on December 26th.
