Roughly $174,763 in illegal drugs and five guns have been removed from Thunder Bay following a drug bust.
On Monday officers were following up on a previous investigation when they attempted to stop a vehicle, but the driver got out and ran.
When officers searched the vehicle they found a loaded handgun, multi-round magazines, as well as suspected, cocaine, crack cocaine, and fentanyl.
Once again officers found the suspect in a car and attempted to perform a traffic stop before the suspect ran away, but they did not make it far.
Police found the suspect at a nearby home and placed them under arrest.
Following the arrest police seized another gun, and more suspected crack cocaine and fentanyl.
On Tuesday officers conducted a search of a home on Margaret Street in relation to the investigation.
At the home, three more guns, cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia were seized.
As a result of the investigation, a 27-year-old from Brampton is facing the following charges:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl X 2 counts
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking Crack Cocaine X 2 counts
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order X 7 counts
- Careless Storage of a firearm, weapon or prohibited device
- Escape lawful custody
- Resist Peace Officer X 2 counts
- Breach of Firearms Regulation – transport firearm or restricted weapon
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon X 2 counts
- Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
- Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon
- Transport firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition in a careless manner
- Possession of prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
- Possession of a prohibited device
- Obstruct police
The provincial police did not release information on whether the accused remains in custody or not.
