New N.S. election poll predicts PC majority, opposition too close to call

A new survey says the Progressive Conservatives are looking good for next week’s provincial election.

According to the poll from Narrative Research, 44 percent of decided voters intend to vote for the PCs.

The NDP gained support, 28 percent say they intend to vote for Claudia Chender’s party, up from 19 percent in August.

There’s twenty-four percent support for Zach Churchill’s Liberals, that’s unchanged.

Narrative Research says Tim Houston’s party holds a clear lead, but it’s slipped compared to voting intentions in August, which were 53 percent.

Fifty-four percent of respondents say Houston’s decision to abandon a fixed-election date doesn’t play a role in their decision.

According to Narrative Research CEO Margaret Brigley, the PCs will achieve a a majority win, the question now is who will form the opposition.

She says second place is too close to call, the outcome will largely depend on voter turnout.

Brigley says females and younger residents are more likely to vote NDP.
