RCMP searching for suspect after Hanwell thefts and assault

By Tara Clow Nov 20, 2024 | 8:20 AM

Help is needed to identify a man after an assault and two break and enters in Hanwell.

RCMP say a business on Timothy Avenue was broken into on November 18.

Officers were made aware of a second break-and-enter in the area when they arrived.

A suspect was spotted loading stolen property into a U-Haul.

The man jumped in the driver’s seat of the U-Haul and reportedly struck a police cruiser, and had previously attempted to hit another car.

The U-Haul was followed southbound on Highway 3, where police attempted to deploy a tire-deflating device.  An officer was forced to jump into the ditch to avoid being struck. The police suffered minor injuries.

It was also learned that gas was stolen from a business in Ripples earlier in the day.

The U-Haul is described as being 15 feet long, has possible damage to the front of the truck, and Arizona licence plate AG66559.

The suspect is believed to be dangerous and should not be approached by members of the public. If you see him, call 911 immediately.

If you recognize the individual or truck, or if you have information that may help further the investigation, please contact the Keswick RCMP at 506-357-4300 or Crimestoppers.
