New Brunswick MLAs return to the legislature for the first time since the October provincial election.

The first session of New Brunswick’s 61st legislature begins in Fredericton on Tuesday.

MLAs will convene in the morning to elect a speaker, which is expected to be Liberal Francine Landry.

The province’s lieutenant-governor will then deliver the new Liberal government’s first throne speech at 1:30 p.m.

Premier Susan Holt has said some of her party’s priorities include a rent cap and removing the fuel adjuster tax.

The Liberals have a majority government after winning 31 seats in the Oct. 21 election.
