Multi-ride transit passes set to increase

By Brad Perry Nov 18, 2024 | 10:12 AM

Many transit users in Saint John will soon be paying more to take the bus.

Saint John Transit said the price of multi-ride passes is going up on Jan. 1.

They will increase by an average of 1.5 per cent, ranging from 35 cents to $1.95.

“Fare increases will allow the Saint John Transit Commission to address rising costs (for example, vehicles, fuel, maintenance, insurance) as the agency continues to expand service and introduce new technology and system enhancements,” Saint John Transit said in a news release.

Single cash fares will remain unchanged at $3. Riders who use STJRides, the account-based mobile ticketing app, will continue to save five per cent per fare purchase.
