You may have noticed an increased police presence in downtown Yarmouth.

Before 11 a.m, reports of RCMP members with guns drawn near the intersection at Main and Parade streets.

An eyewitness inside a nearby building tells us they were told to lock their doors.

Yarmouth Town RCMP confirm that they were responding to a call, and say it turned out to be a false alarm.

Activity has returned to normal in the area.

No word on what the initial call was.
