TCRCE hosting online public engagement session

By Kevin Northup Oct 28, 2024 | 6:00 AM

The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education wants to hear from you.

Families are being invited to register for a public engagement session online Tuesday night at 6:30.

Regional executive director Jared Purdy says it will start with a presentation on how things are going in schools.

“After that’s over, we’re going to run a thought exchange online survey, which will run through a series of questions. Everything from school lunches, to the code of conduct and cellphone directive,” said Purdy.

Purdy says they want to gather feedback on what families are seeing in the system, identify gaps and plan next steps.

New items were introduced this year provincewide, including the school lunch program, launching Monday for many elementary schools in the Tri-Counties.

Purdy adds most of the feedback on the new cellphone directive has also been very positive.

“It was a much easier transition than I would have predicted. To me, I see it as kids enjoying a break from their cellphones. The engagement level has gone up in classrooms, and overall I think it’s going very well.”

He says the new school lunch program had a short runway on leadup, but the logistics are going very well and workers are in place.
