Two people had to be rescued from Little Lepreau Basin after becoming stranded due to a rapidly rising tide.
Members of the Musquash Fire Department were dispatched to the scene just before 2 p.m. Wednesday.
“Upon arrival on scene, it was observed that two individuals had become stranded in the water approximately 200 meters off shore,” the department said in a news release.
“The two individuals had been digging clams from the mud when they noticed that the tide was rising at a rapid rate.”
After realizing they would not make it back to shore in time, they called 911 and the fire department deployed one of its rescue boats.
Both individuals were brought back to shore by firefighters and did not require any medical attention.
