Final PVEC home football game to honour McAulay Jones

This Sunday, the Park View Panthers will play their final home game of the season against Dartmouth High at Kinsmen Field.

The game, scheduled for a 10:30 a.m. kickoff, has special significance as the team will be honoring their late teammate and friend, McAulay Jones, who passed away in 2022 after a brief battle with Meningitis B.

McAulay was an original member of the Panthers’ football team, playing in their first two seasons and scoring the very first touchdown in the program’s history. Known for his leadership both on and off the field, the Panthers retired his jersey number (#30) and named their year-end Sportsmanship Award in his honour.

McAulay tragically passed away on November 4, 2022, just after his 21st birthday, during his third year at Saint Mary’s University.

In his memory his parents Peter and Heather Jones established the McAulay Jones Memorial Foundation. The foundation focuses on youth support through music, sports, and education, while also raising awareness about Meningitis B.

During Sunday’s game, the Panthers will be donating all 50/50 proceeds to the McAulay Jones Memorial Foundation, with additional donations being accepted throughout the event.
