A handful of signs for Lunenburg Mayor Jamie Myra’s reelection campaign have been vandalized.

On Thursday morning Myra posted photos to his social media showing one of his signs had googly eyes attached to them.

In his post, Myra asked members of the community to remove the eyes from any of the signs that they come across, he also appealed for the community to respect the election process and leave his and other candidates’ signs alone.

Tampering with election signs is an offence under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Canada Elections Act, and anyone caught doing so can face charges, including mischief to property or theft under $5,000- which has a maximum penalty of two years in prison.
