Halifax Regional Police have charged two additional people, a 31-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, in relation to the death of teenager Ahmad Al Marrach, who was stabbed in the spring.

On Wednesday, police arrested two adults who allegedly “provided false information to investigators and assisted the accused in avoiding arrest in the homicide,” a news release says.

The man and woman were scheduled to appear in court Thursday to face one count each of accessory to commit an indictable offence.

Al Marrach was 16 years old when he was stabbed in the parking lot of the Halifax Shopping Centre on April 22. He died in the hospital that day.

Two 16-year-old boys, and two 14-year-olds, one boy and one girl, were arrested following the incident. All four will be tried together for second-degree murder on Sept. 23.

Police say they can’t reveal any more information about the recent arrests to avoid revealing the identity of the accused teenagers, who identifies are protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Police originally arrested the two 16-year-olds the day Al Marrach was killed but later released them.

They re-arrested them a few days later, along with the two 14-year-olds.

Police say the investigation is ongoing, and if anyone has information related to the case, they should call 902-490-5020.
