A GoFundMe campaign is halfway to its goal following a weekend fire in Atikokan.

Emergency services in Atikokan responded to a fire at a home on Willow Road Sunday night.

According to the OPP, the blaze caused extensive damage to the home, but the fire was contained inside the structure.

“My sister’s family home was involved in a devastating house fire which has left them temporarily without the basic necessities,” said Jennifer Botham on the GoFundMe campaign. “I am starting this page in hopes that I can help make the next few days easier on them. They currently have the clothes on their backs and that is it!”

In a post to Facebook, Northern Variety in Atikokan has also announced that cash donations and items can also be dropped off at their store.
