Another win for the community of Dartmouth.
The concrete barriers blocking the walking trail at Dartmouth Cove have been removed.
They were placed there Wednesday by Atlantic Road Construction and Paving at the end of Old Ferry Rd.
The company has applied to infill Dartmouth Cove with tons of pyritic slate, but needs federal approval.
After the barriers were placed, Councillor Sam Austin says on social media, HRM staff spent a good chunk of Wednesday afternoon on site coordinating with Build Nova Scotia on how to proceed.
Two letters were sent to the company, from the city as well as Build NS, giving the company a deadline of noon on Friday to remove them.

As of Friday morning, the blocks were removed.
Austin says HRM will meet with the company next week to “further discuss the issue.”
Meanwhile, the group Friends of Dartmouth Cove are urging a call to action.
They ask community members to voice their concerns to HRM and Build NS while the federal government reviews the proposal.
