St. Peter’s, Samsonville and Area Water Utility reminds customers to restrict water use

By Kelli Rickard Aug 21, 2024 | 11:17 AM

Even after recent rainy weather, you still need to mind your water use in St. Peter’s, Samsonville and area.

Earlier this month, customers were asked to voluntarily restrict water use. The local water utility said there was no conservation order, but that there was higher demand and low wells due to the warmer, dryer summer weather.

The utility now says despite the rain since then, it’s not enough to return to regular usage.

Staff are closely monitoring wells.

St. Peter’s, Samsonville and Area Water Utility says please avoid the following:

  • Washing Cars
  • Pressure washing houses, campers, boats, driveways etc.
  • Filling pools or topping pool levels up
  • Running hot tubs
  • Leaving hoses/sprinklers running
  • Excessive lawn and garden watering

Tips for conserving water in your home:

  • If you know you have leaking taps, fix them as soon as possible.
  • Flush toilets sparingly and check to make sure your toilets are not leaking or continuously running.
  • Avoid using your bath and cut your shower time down as much as possible, you may also want to consider low flow shower heads.
  • Turn taps off when the water is not being used (while cleaning teeth, or scrubbing vegetables, for example).
  • If you see anything that could potentially be a water leak, contact the Water Utility immediately.
