An Upper Gagetown man has been arrested following a firearm incident in the community, according to police.

RCMP said they received a report of a firearm being fired several times toward the Saint John River around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Officers arrived on the scene near Lower Coytown Road and identified a person of interest.

A 35-year-old man was arrested at his residence nearby a short time later. No one was hurt.

The man was later released on conditions pending a future court appearance. His firearms were also seized.

Investigators believe the incident was isolated and there was no danger to the public.
