The Yarmouth Hospital Foundation have purchased 46 new stretchers.
They’ll be used on the emergency and medical floors of the hospital.
Mary Surette with the foundation says it wouldn’t be possible without their donors.
“We’re trying to make sure that we’re getting the most recently updated tools to our healthcare providers, so that we can give the best care possible to the residents of our community,” said Surette.
Twenty-three stretchers arrived last month, with the other half coming in September.
Surette says they’re the Cadillac of stretchers.
“We’re just so pleased to be able to do this. I know some of our healthcare providers have expressed how grateful they are to the community because it’s like Christmas when they receive this equipment.”
The total cost of the donation is $445,000.
Surette says they’re planning a fundraising walkathon in the fall.
