Music lovers are flocking to Guysborough County for what has been a Nova Scotia tradition for more than two decades.

The Stan Rogers Folk Festival is happening in Canso through Sunday.

Things kicked off Thursday with a tribute to the late Bruce Guthro.

Lennie Gallant, Lucy MacNeil and Matt Anderson were among artists scheduled to celebrate the beloved Nova Scotia singer-songwriter who died last September.

Blue Rodeo front man, Jim Cuddy, headlines Friday’s Mainstage performances.

Other acts lined up for the weekend include Rankin and the Broken Reeds, Alan Syliboy and the Thundermakers, and Tim Baker.

Daytime workshops featuring various artists are also scheduled.

Stanfest began in 1997 to honour Rogers, one of Canada’s most prolific songwriters.

This summer, for the first time, the event has also offered pre-festival shows around Guysborough County.
