Lots of progress on a new playground at Meadowfields School.

Phase one of the project should be complete and open for public use by the end of the month.

It includes a large play structure and accessible spinner.

Physical Education teacher and committee member Lori MacLeay says Phase two should begin in the fall.

“The same crew will be continuing on. They’re taking strides in this phase to prepare for the next one since they know what is coming, they’ve already ordered that equipment,” said MacLeay.

MacLeay says they will need to hold more fundraisers to get to phase three.

“It includes some signage, benches, trees and and outdoor classroom. We don’t have funds for that yet, but we do have some fundraisers coming up. We’re always thinking months in advance.”

Their goal is to raise another $50,000.

So far, they’ve raised over $300,000 for the first two phases.
