HRM has issued a water quality advisory for a half a dozen beaches due to high bacteria levels.

They include:

• Albro Lake Beach (Dartmouth)
• Birch Cove Beach (Dartmouth)
• Penhorn Beach (Dartmouth)
• Shubie Park Beach (Dartmouth)
• Lake Echo Beach (Lake Echo)
• Springfield Beach (Sackville)

HRM says lifeguards will remain on duty during regular hours and advise residents not to swim.

Staff will continue to test the water and reopen the beaches once levels have lowered.
