Deer Island residents will be spending part of their day Tuesday without electricity.

NB Power says there is a planned power outage for the island starting at 6 a.m.

Officials said the outage is needed so crews can repair transmission infrastructure.

The planned outage is expected to last until around 2 p.m., according to the utility.
