A young person from Port Hawkesbury is facing impaired driving charges after an ATV crash in Little Judique.

Inverness County RCMP say it was Wednesday night on Shore Rd when the passenger of an ATV was thrown out of the vehicle as it crashed into a ditch.

The 19-year-old woman from Long Point has serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

The driver, a male youth, was not hurt.

RCMP say he was showing signs of impairment at the scene and failed a breathalyzer.

He was released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.
