A 39-year-old man is facing assault charges after threatening boat passengers with a knife.

RCMP say it was yesterday morning when two men and a woman were on the deck of a fishing boat on Government Wharf Rd. in Eastern Passage.

That’s when a drunk man known to them, jumped on and threatened them with a knife.

One of the men, a 30-year-old from Lakeside quickly tackled the suspect, bringing him on shore and getting the knife away.

That’s when the suspect started punching the 30-year-old repeatedly before he escaped and called for help.

He was arrested at a home on Howard Rd shortly after midnight.

He was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday.
