Canada Day parade a go in Fort Frances

By Randy Thoms Jun 27, 2024 | 4:27 PM

Canada Day activities in Fort Frances will include a parade.

Organizers were worried they would not have enough participants.

Beyak Automotive Group is spearheading the Canada Day event and spokesperson Holly Kaemingh says a few more groups and organizers registered earlier this week.

“We are having the parade. The parade is a go. We are very excited and thank you to the participants who have signed up,” says Kaemingh.

“We are still gladly welcoming more, but we are going forward with the parade.”

The parade will take place on Monday at 11 a.m. and travels down Front Street between the Sorting Gap Marina and LaVerendrye General Hospital.

The Canada Day celebrations will switch to Point Park following the parade.

Kaemingh says they are super excited about all of the family activities planned.

“We will have the West Rainy River District Lions Club setting up with their barbecue again this year. We also have Lou’s Sweet Treats coming down, as well as the Candy Floss Factory. So, lots of food and treats for the family and the kids.”

“We’ve got bouncy castles. We’re going to have face painting, tattoos, minnow races, bubbles, kites. Lots of fun stuff going on.”

Activities at the park will go from noon until 4 p.m.

Kaemingh encourages people to bring folding chairs and or blankets.

Socks are also needed for children going on the bouncy castles.

Kaemingh adds it is not too late to help with activities or take part in the parade.
