A search warrant in Nipigon has successfully stopped some illegal drugs from reaching the community.

Early Tuesday afternoon members of the Ontario Provincial Police executed a search warrant at a residence on Harkness Street.

During the search suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, and mushrooms were seized along with cash and other items associated with drug trafficking.

Two suspects were also arrested.

As a result, two 31-year-old Nipigon residents have been charged with:

• Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
• Possession of a Schedule III Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
• Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

One of the accused has been released with a future court date, the other remains in custody.
