Jail time for a Moncton man charged in a drug trafficking investigation more than three years ago.

Mounties said they searched a home on Route 132 in Greater Lakeburn in February 2021.

Officers seized crystal meth and hydromorphone pills, along with drug-trafficking paraphernalia, ammunition, a prohibited weapon, and contraband cigarettes.

A 45-year-old man from Moncton was arrested and later released pending a court appearance.

Kevin Gionet has since pleaded guilty to possessing methamphetamine and hydromorphone for the purposes of trafficking.

He was sentenced to two years plus a day in jail and handed a 10-year firearms prohibition upon his release.
