Power restored in Truro after crow hits line

By Jacob Moore Jun 14, 2024 | 4:06 PM

Power is restored for customers in Truro and surrounding communities after a bird hit a transmission line and knocked out power for nearly 11,000 people.

The outage happened Friday afternoon.

Nova Scotia Power spokesperson Hannah Langille said power crews were on the scene to make sure there was no more harm to wildlife and then restore power.

She said birds sometimes interfere with power lines. Earlier on Friday, crews were called to another power outage caused by a crow, she said.

The Truro area has a planned outage on Wednesday to upgrade a power line on Arthur Street, but she said that is unrelated to the outage caused by the crow.
