An altercation between a transit driver and a passenger is being investigated by the city.
It took place on Friday around 6 a.m. at the city hall terminal.
The operator was injured and is placed on a paid leave during the investigation.
Fred Caputo, president and business agent for Amalgamated Transit Union Local 966, said they are treating the incident with standard procedures.
“The operator did sustain injuries during the incident and is resting at home,” said Caputo. “At this time, the operator is off work with pay pending the completion of the city’s investigation.”
He said the union is actively involved in the investigation and will comment further once it is completed.
“Operator and passenger safety continues to be very important to the union and we will continue to lobby city council and transit management for improvements to operate and passenger safety,” said Caputo.
