Multiple reports citing the U.S. Coast Guard suggest divers discovered a significant crack in the hull of the Michipicoten.
The discovery was made while the ship is docked in Thunder Bay after it started taking on water Saturday morning.
An investigation into what happened began soon after the vessel made it port.
The crew all made it to land safely.
