The North Core Street Scape Project is getting a visual lift with artwork.

Thunder Bay is calling for artists to create three public art displays for the project.

This aims to boost the city’s north core by redesigning streets and creating a space that meets the needs of a diverse community. Public art will help define the space.

A total budget of $500,000.00 has been allocated for all three installations, with a portion of funding provided by the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation Community Enhancement Program.

The three locations for the new public art will be Court Street Plaza, Mall Street Plaza, and St. Paul Street to Cumberland Street Plaza.

Canadian artists are invited to submit art proposals. The deadline for submissions is August 21 at 11:59 p.m. Artist teams, solo artists and organizations are eligible to apply, with preference given for local artists, especially those who identify as Indigenous.
