Couturier signed on for multi-year extension as GM with Cape Breton Eagles

The General Manager with the Cape Breton Eagles is staying with the team awhile longer.

The Eagles have signed Sylvain Couturier on a multi-year contract extension.

Club majority owner Irwin Simon says they know he is the man for the job.

“He has done so much good for our organization in the past two seasons and so the decision to extend is contract was an easy one. He has so much valuable experience in this league and a history of success, so we are confident he is the one to help bring a championship to Cape Breton.”

Couturier says he is glad Simon has trust in him and they seem to appreciate his work.

“I made the move here three years ago with my wife and it quickly became our home. Talks didn’t take very long because we are happy to be here and happy to stay.”

He adds that they have a really fun, dynamic group and it is fun to come to work everyday.

Couturier was first hired by the team in July 2022 after spending 20 years with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, where he won the President’s Cup and Memorial Cup in 2018 as general manager.

He says they are trying to build something for many years and are now heading in that direction.

The Eagles are coming off their deepest playoff run in 17 years.
