Fire rescue responds to early morning fire

By CJ Goater Jun 9, 2024 | 4:24 PM

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue successfully put out a fire at a residence on Dawson Street early Sunday morning.

Fire rescue was sent to the home just after 1:00 a.m., but upon arrival, they could see smoke and flames through a second-floor window, leading to a request for additional assistance.

The first pumper on the scene quickly brought the fire under control, limiting the damage to one room.

Multiple firefighters remained at the home to check the room to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.

The fire was put out before it could spread to the home’s structural components.

The only person living at the residence had evacuated before the arrival of fire rescue.

Fire rescue is reminding the public to ensure that they have working smoke alarms on all levels of the home, as well as to exercise caution when handling smoking materials.
