Thunder Bay’s Chamber of Commerce announces two scholarships going to local graduating high schoolers.

The Chamber’s Education, Training & Skills Development Taskforce has supported many students in advancing their education and careers over the last 32 years.

A $1,500 Women in Trades scholarship has been awarded to Loralei Nickelsen of Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute. She plans to pursue training to be an autobody technician.

In addition, the North Superior Workforce Planning Board sponsored a $1,000 scholarship to a student going into a business-related program in Thunder Bay. Teana Martins from St. Ignatius High School was awarded the funding and is going to Lakehead University in the fall.

These scholarships are a part of the chamber’s goal to advance the community financially.
