It’s convocation day for more than 200 graduates from the Nova Scotia Community College Strait Area Campus.

The 5 p.m. event on Thursday at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is one of 21 across the province to mark the achievements of over 4,000 NSCC grads.

Le-Antonio Stephenson, a graduate of the Power Engineering Technology diploma program, has been chosen as the Strait Area Campus valedictorian.

Additional awards recognizing student achievement and success will also be presented:

• Board of Governors’ Award: Brittney Gurney | Electrical – Industrial Maintenance and Controls Diploma
• NSCC Gold Medal Award: Sandi Rapp | Office Administration Certificate
• President’s Award: Sandi Rapp | Office Administration Certificate
• NSCC Alumni Award: Amber-Lee Chiavari | Social Services Diploma
• Governor General’s Academic Medal: Amber-Lee Chiavari | Social Services Diploma

Annie Johnson from the Strait’s School of Technology and Environment will be one of the five honorary diploma recipients, the highest form of recognition presented by NSCC.
