A death in Kaministiquia River Heritage Park is now being investigated as a murder.

Early Saturday morning a resident passing by found an unresponsive man in the park and contacted emergency services.

The man was sent to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre but was pronounced deceased.

The Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Unit are involved in the ongoing investigation and a police presence remains in the area.

A post-mortem examination is being conducted at a later date.
