Ontario at risk of extended heat waves this summer

By Chloe Hannan May 31, 2024 | 3:00 PM

Above normal temperatures and little rainfall are expected in the coming months.

On Wednesday, The Weather Network released their predicted forecasts for June, July and August.

Ontario will see extended periods of dry weather, creating high fire danger and a risk for smoke and poor air quality.

From the central Prairies to Atlantic Canada, expect warmer than normal temperatures this summer, but June will still include occasional cooler days. The heat will peak during July and August, with an increased risk of extended heat waves.

Northern Ontario will have below normal precipitation. This will cause dry weather and multiple periods of heat waves, with potential freak thunderstorms and hail.
