Masland glad to see passenger increase on the ‘CAT’

Passenger bookings on the ‘CAT’ ferry are up 15 percent.

The Nova Scotia-to-Maine vessel began crossings for the 2024 season earlier this month.

Before the season, Bay Ferries said they’d sold over 18,000 tickets for the service so far, that’s up over 2,400 compared to this time last year.

Kim Masland says they’re looking forward to the results of a broad economic impact study on the service.

“Even though we see increased passenger bookings, we still have a responsibility to Nova Scotians and the taxpayers who are funding this service,” said Masland.

She says it’s a positive that the numbers are up.

The CAT carried over 38,000 passengers last season.
