A construction firm that damaged Bell network cables is being blamed for the loss of Bell telephone and Internet services in Atikokan.

Services went out Thursday afternoon.

Bell crews were not able to get customers back online until late Sunday.

A Bell spokesperson tells Acadia News that 1,300 cables were damaged.

They say they are now working with the company to avoid a repeat occurrence.
