Emergency services in Shuniah have a new place to call home.

Superior North Emergency Medical Services has a new base on Lakeshore Drive that features two drive-through ambulance bays and a new area for paramedics to rest while on duty.

“This new EMS station symbolizes the innovation and progress of emergency medical services,” said Chief of SNEMS Shane Muir. “This building embodies the advancement of the Paramedic profession and provides valuable operations infrastructure for all those who may require emergency medical services.”

The new base comes as part of the 2021-2030 SNEMS Master plan which also included the construction of a new base in Kakabeka Falls in 2021.

The new facility will support not only Shuniah, but the Township of Dorion, and several unincorporated areas.
