Dog walk in Canso for a great cause

By Kelli Rickard May 27, 2024 | 12:42 PM

It was a great day to walk the dogs in Canso!

The Dog Guide Walk happened Sunday afternoon.

It’s one of three local fundraisers for the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guide program which provides training for seven types of Dog Guides.

People and their pups walked from the Canso Lions Club to the waterfront and back.

They raised about $530.00 in donations with more expected to come in this week.

The Lions also collected $325.00 at a pancake breakfast in April and $913.00 during a trivia night on May 25th.

These three projects have raised a total of more than $1800.00 so far.

Sponsors for the Dog Guide Walk included the Canso Lions Club, Hanhamas Wholesale, Canso Coop, Canso Pharmacy, Councilor Fin Armsworthy, and Pet Valu in Antigonish and Port Hawkesbury.
