Are you passionate about Saint John’s north end and want to shape the community for the future?

The city is seeking applicants to serve on the North End Neighbourhood Advisory Committee.

The advisory committee will provide feedback and advice for the North End Neighbourhood Plan.

Officials have said the aim of the plan is to help shape growth and development throughout the north end.

City staff have worked with two major north end community groups to draft a boundary map.

Several factors were considered when choosing the proposed boundary, such as the amount of land to be included, natural and man-made boundaries, census boundaries, existing neighbourhoods, and important community spaces.

The proposed plan boundary incorporates 6 sub-neighbourhoods: Old North End, Lansdowne, Douglas Avenue/Main Street, Somerset Street/Millidge Avenue, Crescent Valley, and Mount Pleasant. It does not include Millidgeville or Rockwood Park.

It includes the site of the New Brunswick Museum, the new north end school, vacant areas for new residential development, and existing residential areas in decline.

Applications are being accepted until Tuesday, June 4.
