By Caitlin Snow May 24, 2024 | 12:44 PM

A provincial grant for renovations at a local community hub.

The Yarmouth Association for Community Residential Options (YACRO) will get $50,000 to help make their washrooms more accessible.

The building entrance and kitchen area will also get upgrades.

Program Director, Aimee Acker says the renovations are vital for enhancing accessibility and inclusion.

“Upgrading our washrooms will also demonstrate our commitment to equality and support the diverse needs of all who use our services. This improvement not only benefits our current users but also makes our community hub more welcoming and accommodating for future visitors.”

The facility is a non-profit organization that provides residential assistance for children and adults with disabilities.

They do this through social and recreational support services.

The announcement comes before National AccessAbility Week kicks off May 26 to June 1.
